This project was centered on creating symbols for a different animals, with 18 different categories for inspiration. It started off with a lot of sketching for each category, then taking some of those sketches into Adobe Illustrator to slowly refine them. Scaling and legibility at different sizes were big factors to keep in mind, as well as contrast and simplicity.
Above is a mockup of my poster with my final 16 symbols on it, all based around foxes. I chose foxes for their distinct face and personality, and also because they're my favorite animal. Below are some of the individual symbols I created so you can see a bit more of how they work individually and together.
